A gorgeous antique Victorian pendant/ brooch from the late 19^th Century depicting a cross made up of four large pear cut amethysts with a luxurious purple hue. They weigh approx. 5ct each with a 1ct stone in the centre (approx. 21ct total). 

Amethyst is the birthstone of February and is considered a stone of protection, clarity and tranquillity. Its deep violet colouring has been highly esteemed throughout history, adorning regal jewellery all around the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels. 

The stones are collet set in a 9ct gold open-back gallery with a loop and pin so it can be worn as a pendant or brooch.
