Antique Edwardian Guilloche Enamel Floral Locket

A sweet antique Edwardian locket from the early 1900s featuring a spiralling guilloche enamel face with a magical golden shimmer that glides across the pale blue backdrop. 

Guilloche enamel dates to the 17^th century and became increasingly popular in the Victorian era. The process involves metal carefully worked by a lathe, or “Rose Machine” into a decorative pattern and overlaid with a colourful enamel to create a striking and detailed work of art. 

The face is overlaid with a colourful, hand painted enamel wreath, decorated with pink roses and topped with a purple bow, together symbolising eternal, everlasting love. 

The shell is crafted in silver with a yellow gold gilt finish. It’s remained in excellent condition and is the perfect place to store those cherished family photos.
