Antique Edwardian Gemstone Harlequin Pendant Necklace

Details

A fabulous antique Edwardian Harlequin pendant depicting a wreath of diamonds and colourful gemstones, including a green peridot, orange citrine, yellow paste, pink topaz and blue sapphire (approx. 0.20ct each). A beautiful cushion-cut Ceylon sapphire is also suspended in the centre (approx. 1ct) with a hot-pink sapphire dangling from the bottom (approx. 0.25ct).  

Harlequin jewellery is named after the colourful costumes of the 16th-century comedy actors of the same name. The style was popular during the 19^th Century and saw wonderful pieces of jewellery abundantly decorated in coloured gemstones. 

The pendant is fashioned in silver and 9ct gold and features beautiful, foliate workmanship and a bow at the bottom. It dates to the early 1900s and comes with a new 18ct gold chain to display it on.
