ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN 18CT GOLD MOURNING CROSS RING DATED 1901
This fabulous 18ct Gold antique mourning ring is genuine Edwardian dated 1901.
The front of the ring is adorned with a beautiful Pearl Cross and decorated in foliate motifs set with Pearls across the front gallery.
Pearls have a wonderful lustre with a rich creamy tone, they are lovely lustrous and natural.
The Mourning ring displays a hidden locket on the inside of the shank which contains a small window showing the hair of a loved one from long ago.
Mourning jewellery mirrored the lives and times of the people who wore it. It was a souvenir to remember a loved one, a reminder to the living of the inevitability of death.
The ring is all set in 18ct Yellow Gold and decorated in Black Enamel on the front.
Complete with hallmarks on the inside of the shank including makers initials D & F.
Purchased in London and steeped in English history.
Looks stunning when worn, a wonderful piece that deserves to be treasured.
It weighs 3.9 grams.
