A remarkable antique Scottish anchor brooch made during the mid Victorian era (Circa 1860). The piece consists of a large, cross shaped agate in the centre with beautiful red/ orange colouring. It has some transparency which allows light to pass through the stone and illuminate the natural bands within.

Anchors are said to represent a person’s strength and stable qualities. They are also considered an image of faith and hope, as the dropping of an anchor represents the safe end of a long journey.

The agate is topped and tailed with silver tips to form the anchor. They feature detailed patterning, with a wonderful coiling rope wrapping around the entire piece. It’s highly collectable and has remained in pristine condition.
