This lovely antique Victorian Albert chain has been crafted in Sterling Silver and gilded in 18ct Yellow Gold.

Albert chains were used in the Victorian era to secure a pocket watch against accident or theft by attaching it via the T-bar to the buttonhole of a waistcoat. They were named after Prince Albert, who was Queen Victoria’s consort until his death in 1861.

This piece is in excellent condition. Every link is stamped with the original sterling silver stamp, and the T-bar is stamped with a mark dating the piece to 1877 from the city of Chester, as well as faded makers marks.

It is a beautifully made piece which has stood the test of time.
