This stunning antique 18ct Gold gilt Forget me not Locket is Victorian Circa 1880.

The wonderful piece displays beautiful engraved Forget me not’s across the front with an engraved emblem on the back.

‘Forget-me-not, O Lord!’ is what a poor German knight shouted as he fell into a river. He and his lady were picking flowers by the side of the river at the time when the poor knight suddenly fell in and sank to the bottom. Upon his cries to the Lord, he threw the blue posy of flowers to his loved one. Hence, the concept of remembrance, eternal love and faithfulness grow from this.

The piece opens up to reveal an original photograph of a finely dressed gentleman on the left and a glass window on the right.

The piece is all set in 18ct Yellow Gold gilt and has a lovely smooth finish.

The locket is steeped in Victorian history and would look lovely displayed on a Gold chain!

Weighs 24.7 grams.

Measures 33mm across x 41mm down x 58mm down with bale.
