These fabulous Victorian hand carved Whitby Jet earrings are circa 1860.
Whitby Jet was brought to the attention of the world by Queen Victoria who used Whitby Jet as part of her mourning attire.
Jet is a type of brown coal a fossilised wood from an ancient tree similar to the monkey puzzle tree.
Today Whitby Jet is highly collectable and sought after world wide.
The earrings are beautifully carved and polished to perfection with a central swinging pendulum.
They are set on silver wire hooks with a soft Gold finish.
A beautiful piece of victorian jewellery and look beautiful when worn.
