ANTIQUE VICTORIAN WHITBY JET CAMEO BROOCH CIRCA 1860
An exquisite Antique Cameo brooch dating from the mid-Victorian era, Circa 1860. The Cameo depicts the side profile of an elegant lady with flowers woven into her long ringlets. It has been hand carved from Bullmouth Shell by an expert hand with flawless detailing across every hair and clothing crease.
The fabulous Bullmouth Shell has been popular for many years as a base for cameo carvings for its beautiful natural patterning which takes expert skill to carve.
The Cameo has been set in a large Whitby Jet frame engraved with intricate leaves and flowers around its circumference. It is finished with a metal pin and safety chain on the reverse for extra security when worn.
This is a highly collectable brooch and a true work of art. It has been beautifully preserved throughout the years and deserves to be treasured once more.
