This fabulous 15ct Yellow Gold Victorian Suffragette necklace is Circa 1900.
The beautifully designed necklace is adorned with a Peridot, leading down to 3 Pearls in a Gold gallery, and a Amethyst dropper. This combination of gemstones represent the Suffragette movement.
Emmeline Pankhurst was the leader of the British Suffragette movement in the 19th century and through her efforts won the right for women to vote.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery was chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking.
Green is for Give, white is for Women and violet is for Votes.
Amethyst has been highly esteemed throughout the ages for its stunning beauty and legendary powers to stimulate and soothe the mind and emotions.
