ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SUFFRAGETTE DOVE NECKLACE SILVER CIRCA 1900
This fabulous antique Victorian Dove pendant and chain was made representing the Suffragette movement, Circa 1900.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery popularly consisted of Violet, Green and White colours which were chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking! Green is for Give, white is for Women and violet is for Votes!
The wonderful pendant is decorated in sparkling pink, green and white Paste Stones and depicts a lovely Dove carrying a large branch.
Doves are known as the ‘Love bird’ as they’re known to keep the same partner throughout their entire life. A Dove carrying an Olive branch has long been a symbolic image of peace and freedom.
Paste is a transparent flint glass that simulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones. White Pastes sparkle just like Diamonds, captivating the allure of natures beauty.
The necklace is all set in Silver and complete with hallmarks on the reverse of the pendant.
This is a truly beautiful antique necklace that looks lovely when worn, a great talking piece!
