This beautiful Victorian Suffragette brooch is set in 18ct Yellow Gold. Circa 1900.

Set with a central rich green Peridot with one Amethyst at either side, which is then followed by glistening rose cut Diamonds.

Emmeline Pankhurst was the leader of the British Suffragette movement in the 19th century and through her efforts won the right for women to vote.

Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine. Their jewellery was chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking.

Give Women Votes - Green is for give, white is for women and violet is for votes.

Amethyst has been highly esteemed throughout the ages for its stunning beauty and legendary powers to stimulate and soothe the mind and emotions.
