This fabulous Sterling Silver Star Jabot Paste pin is extremely collectable, Circa 1900.

Jabot pins were originally used to decorate, or fasten a dangling ruffle known as a jabot worn by men on the front of shirts and women on the front of dresses dating to the 17th century. It became popular in the 20th century, and flourished through the 1930s.

Paste is hand-cut glass that has been polished with metal powder until it shimmers like a gemstone. They are also a transparent flint glass that stimulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones, because they have a relatively high indices of refraction and a strong dispersion.

Star and Moon images became popular during the late 19th Century as an interest in astronomy grew. Stars symbolise guidance and are seen to lead you in the direction you are meant to go.

Hallmarked 935 which is the old stamp mark for Sterling Silver

Steeped in history, showing beautiful craftsmanship from the Victorian era.

It weighs 9.4 grams.

The pin measures 70mm across.

The largest Star measures 35mm across x 35mm down.

Excellent condition all round.
