This antique Victorian Sterling Silver and Gold insect brooch is Circa 1900.

Insect and bug jewellery is highly collectable and a symbol of good luck to the wearer during the Victorian Eras.

The brooch is adorned with beautiful white Paste Stones decorating the wings and body with cabochon Rubies as eyes.

Paste is a heavy, very transparent flint glass that simulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones. They sparkle just like Diamonds, captivating the allure of natures beauty.

The Ruby is considered to be the most powerful gem of the universe, given as a gift, the ruby is a symbol of friendship and love. Ruby is also the symbol of vitality and loyalty.

A fabulous large faux Silver Pearl is set for the insects abdomen, there is a small hair line fault on the Faux Pearl but this is minimum wear for it’s age.

All set in Sterling Silver and complete with hallmark.

Purchased in London and steeped in English history.

Looks fabulous when worn, a great talking piece.

Measures 21mm across x 29mm down.
