Antique Victorian Paste Stone Butterfly Brooch Silver Circa 1880
This beautiful Victorian butterfly brooch is, Circa 1880.
The brooch is adorned with green Paste Stone wings, Red paste Cabochon eyes, and pretty Pearls.
Paste is a heavy, very transparent flint glass that stimulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones, the Romans in particular were very skilful in the production of coloured glass Pastes.
Pearls have a wonderful lustre with a rich creamy tone, they are lovely lustrous and natural.
Butterfly or insect jewellery is highly collectable and was a symbol of good luck to the wearer during the Victorian Eras.
Set in Silver, hallmarks can be seen on the reverse.
The brooch is fitted with a secure pin and C catch.
This is a fabulous Victorian brooch that looks beautiful when worn, a truly wonderful piece.
