ANTIQUE VICTORIAN MOONSTONE CRESCENT MOON BROOCH SILVER CIRCA 1880
A fabulous late Victorian Silver crescent moon brooch claw set with beautiful Moonstones which graduate in size from a 2.3ct down to a 0.10ct stone.
Crescent moons were a symbol of the feminine moon goddess and represented change and female empowerment in the Victorian Era.
The Moonstones have a lovely ghostly hue and a luminous surface similar to that of Moonlight. They are said to be a magical stone providing a channel for prophecy, and a path to wisdom.
The piece has been converted into a brooch and was originally part of a necklace with the original fittings still in place. It is highly collectable, and a wonderful Victorian find.
