Antique Victorian Kingfisher Pendant Brooch Butterfly Wing Circa 1900
This stunning antique Victorian Silver King Fisher pendant brooch is Circa 1900.
Victorian jewellery mirrored Queen Victoria’s life with the ‘Romantic’ period producing decorative animal, bird and lizard pieces, symbolising the monarch’s sentimental side.
Underneath a glass casing colourful shimmering Butterfly wings can be seen which make up a beautiful King Fisher perched on a branch above water waiting patiently for it’s prey.
Butterfly wing jewellery derives it’s fabulous pattern and colour from the wings of various species of butterfly. The wings are only collected after the butterfly has passed away and given new life in these sunning jewellery pieces that show off their natural beauty.
The piece is set in a beautifully engraved Silver gallery and complete with hallmarks on the reverse.
The pendant is also fitted with a pin and C-catch on the back so that it can be worn as a brooch too.
This is a stunning work of art that would look fabulous displayed on a chain or pinned to a lapel, a true collectors piece!
Weighs 43.7 grams.
