This wonderful antique Victorian pendant is adorned with a hand painted Ivory portrait. Circa 1850
The painting is of a beautiful lady in Victorian wear with pink roses on her shoulder complimented with a lovely blue headband to match her enchanting blue eyes. She is so elegant!
Hand painted on Ivory and set in Victorian Ivory which is studded with old cut marcasites around the border, as well as set into the bale.
Marcasite's are also known as black Diamonds, they sparkle and shimmer just like real Diamonds. Marcasite jewellery has been made since the time of the Ancient Greeks. It was particularly popular in the 18th century, the Victorian era and with Art Nouveau jewellery designers.
This has to be one of the prettiest Ivory pendants we have ever listed for sale.
It would look stunning worn on a chain round the neck.
