ANTIQUE VICTORIAN CHILDS MEMORIAL BROOCH WHITE ENAMEL CIRCA 1880
This lovely antique Victorian childs memorial mourning brooch is Circa 1880.
Set in 9ct Gold and white Enamel.
Mourning jewellery mirrored the lives and times of the people who wore it. It was a souvenir to remember a loved one, a reminder to the living of the inevitability of death, a status symbol, especially during the Victorian Era.
The brooch is set with a central glass window which holds plaited blonde baby hair.
The hair is surrounded by white Enamel which resembles children, and with beautiful Gold detailing in the enamel.
The reverse is all closed backed with a secure pin.
A fabulous brooch that is steeped in history, perfect for any mourning brooch collector.
