An exquisite antique Victorian cameo brooch from the mid 19^th Century featuring a beautiful high relief cameo hand carved from a bullmouth shell. It depicts the side profile of an elegant Roman lady with flowers woven into her long ringlets. 

Roman style Cameo’s were highly sought after in the 19^th century during the 'Grand Tour' days when tourists developed a fascination with destinations such as Rome. They often depicted Goddesses and characters from mythology and became a favourite of Queen Victoria also. 

The cameo is set in a 9ct gold frame with lovely, chased workmanship around the border. It’s in excellent condition and a true work of art.
