This spectacular French 18ct Gold Diamond and Sapphire cocktail ring is Circa 1950.

The Cocktail ring was introduced in the flamboyant 1920s and grew in popularity through to the 1950s when cocktail parties were in fashion and women desired to stand out by wearing large colourful statement pieces.

A stunning 0.80ct blue Sapphire is set into the lovely French gallery along with seven sparkling cushion cut Diamonds.

Sapphire is a symbol of friendship and loyalty and was once called the ‘stone of destiny’ as it was said to bring peace and harmony to the wearer.

The largest old cushion cut Diamond is 0.60ct, each Diamond is superb cut, colour and clarity - SI 1 I/J colour.

Diamonds are the hardest mineral on Earth and this combined with its exceptional lustre and brilliant fire has made it the most highly prized of all gems.

The ring is heavy and substantial, all set in solid 18ct Yellow Gold, boasting fabulous French design.
