Jet Jewellery

Most commonly associated with mourning jewellery, jet jewellery became popular following Prince Albert’s death in 1861 when Queen Victoria set about wearing black and mourning jewellery for many decades. The majority of antique jet jewellery was produced in Whitby in Yorkshire and it’s deep black colour made it the perfect choice for mourning jewellery. Jet itself is a product of high pressure and decomposition of wood dating back millions of years.

Here at Laurelle Antique Jewellery, we are proud to offer an extensive collection of antique jet jewellery, primarily from the Victorian period, given it’s rise in popularity following Prince Albert’s death. Whether you’re looking for antique jet necklaces, brooches, earrings, cameos or pendants, we’re confident you’ll find something which takes your fancy here. All of our pieces have been hand picked by ourselves, ensuring you’re given the opportunity to purchase something not only stunning but also extremely unique and which comes complete with it’s very own history.

Should you have any questions or wish to find out more about any of our pieces of stunning jet jewellery, we welcome you to get in touch with us where our team will be only more than happy to help.
