ANTIQUE GEORGIAN MOURNING HAIR BRACELET 18CT GOLD CIRCA 1780
This grand antique Georgian Mourning bracelet features a thick band of braided hair which is tightly woven and a lovely shade of golden brown.
Mourning jewellery mirrored the lives and times of the people who wore it. It was a souvenir to remember a loved one or a reminder to the living of the inevitability of death.
The band is fitted to a large ornate clasp with a beautiful engraved design across the front and shoulders. It is fashioned in pinchbeck gilded in 18ct Yellow Gold with Silver workmanship inlaid on top.
This is a highly unique piece, very well preserved and a fine example of the majesty and craftsmanship of the Georgian era.
