These lovely long Whitby Jet hand carved earrings are Circa 1860.

Whitby Jet was brought to the attention of the world by Queen Victorian who used Whitby Jet as part of her mourning attire.

Jet is a type of brown coal a fossilised wood from an ancient tree similar to the monkey puzzle tree.

Today Whitby Jet is highly collectable and sought after worldwide.

Set with Silver wires.

Lovey deep high relief workmanship can be seen on this beautiful foliate motif.

The earrings weigh 6.6 grams

They measure 55mm down x 20mm across.
