This fabulous Antique 18ct Gold Georgian mourning brooch is Circa 1800.

Due to its age, Georgian jewellery is quite rare, with some pieces almost three hundred years old. From 1714 until 1837 four King Georges and a short-lived William gave rise to this extended period, spanning many fashions that are reflected in these stunning pieces of Georgian jewellery.

The central window of the brooch contains fancy plaited hair inside.

Mourning jewellery mirrored the lives and times of the people who wore it. It was a souvenir to remember a loved one, a reminder to the living of the inevitability of death, a status symbol, especially during the Victorian Era.

A halo of 8 polished Coral stones adorn this lovely Georgian brooch.

From the depths of the sea, comes the beautiful coral which is produced by tiny life forms. Same as pearls, coral is a water element of fiery colours in shades ranging from petal pink to salmon and velvety red.

All set in 18ct Gold with worn initials on the reverse of the Gold plate.

Purchased in London and steeped in English history.

Looks fabulous when worn, a unique find that deserves to be treasured.

Weighs 5.8 grams.

Measures 25mm across x 22mm down.
