ANTIQUE GEORGIAN 18CT GOLD COILED DIAMOND SNAKE BANGLE CIRCA 1800
This fabulous antique Georgian coiled snake bracelet has been exquisitely crafted in 18ct Yellow Gold. Multiple strands of woven gold have been cunningly laced together to create a flexible body with scales running along its length.
The piece is solid gold, with extremely high quality diamonds set as both eyes. The snake’s face has been lovingly crafted with great skill, with each of the serpent’s teeth and its forked tongue rendered beautifully in the same high quality gold.
Serpent and snake jewellery was common in the Victorian era, after Prince Albert gifted the young queen a serpent ring set with emerald eyes. This is a much earlier piece, created during the prior Georgian era when such snake motifs were less common.
This is one of the best preserved and most skilfully crafted Georgian pieces we have ever seen. It is in wonderful condition for its age, and is a truly remarkable piece of historic jewellery to be treasured.
We recommend you insure for £13,500. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
